Eating like a CAVEMAN

The next step for me is definitely becoming a vegetarian but I’m not ready for that yet. I think I’m just a few steps away from it.

After the past few years I’ve come to the conclusion that the concept of eating like a caveman is the best way to stay lean and healthy and lose weight fast!

It’s actually really easy but like anything it takes some effort because you’re creating new habits. I hear over and over that it takes about 21 days to develop a brand new habit that is most likely to stick so aim for the 21 day mark and don’t let anything stop you from at least getting to that mark.

So to break it down simply, cavemen did’nt eat complex carbohydrates. They were hunter gatherers and you need to mimic what they did.

The majority of their diet consisted of berries and nuts which they gathered and lean meats when they were able to capture some prey. That lean meat wasn’t the crapola you generally find in grocery stores. Their prey ran around their entire lives providing an extremely lean protein source.

Pretty simple eh.

Get a lean protein source at each meal, eat the dark meat not the white. It’s packed with way more nutrients.

At your snacks chow down on nuts (especially almonds) and berries. Cherries are great because chewing around the seed makes you fuller faster. Blueberries and blackberries are my favs and they’re packed with micronutrients to keep your body happy 🙂

One of the most important parts of every meal is salad. You need to start making salad a staple rather than an addition or side plate. Focus on finding healthy dressing and even better, make your dressings. Its crazy how we eat a salad that has basically no calories and then pack on a condensed source of useless calories ie: Salad Dressing!

Get handy with the blender and you can make the most delicious dressing with nuts, garlic, some vinegar .. mixing and matching flavors until you find your favorites.

Use whole sunflower seeds with the shell, it’s one of the most calcium rich foods out there.
